ARLINGTON, Texas — A man has died and an 18-year-old is critically injured after a crash Saturday evening involving three vehicles, Arlington police said.
The department said it happened on Feb. 4 at 6:27 p.m. on South Center Street near Interstate 20.
When officers got to the scene, bystanders had pulled the driver and passenger out of a car that caught fire. Both men were taken to a hospital.
Police said the 20-year-old passenger was pronounced dead and the 18-year-old driver is still in critical condition.
Tarrant County officials will identify the 20-year-old when his next of kin has been notified.
According to police, the two were in a Mustang driving north of South Center when the driver apparently lost control as he was trying to switch lanes, crossed over the median and collided with a Silverado and a Lancer.
The drivers of the Silverado and Lancer were not seriously injured, police said.
An investigation is underway, and police said they have not ruled out speed as a factor.
