Teen girl critically wounded in Arlington city pool shooting, police say

Officers around 4:20 a.m. responded to the Dottie Lynn Recreation Center in the 3200 block of Norwood Lane, near West Park Row Drive and South Bowen Road.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A teenage girl was shot and critically wounded in a pool area at an Arlington city recreation center early Wednesday, police said.

Officers around 4:20 a.m. responded to the Dottie Lynn Recreation Center in the 3200 block of Norwood Lane, near West Park Row Drive and South Bowen Road.

When they arrived, police found the victim, a teenage girl, in the pool area with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. Her name has not been released.

Investigators believe the girl and other teens had jumped the fence at the pool, which was closed for the season, according to a police release. At some point, the girl was shot.

Officers found several other teens who were believed to be at the pool when the shooting happened. Investigators were interviewing them, but more information was not released by later Wednesday morning.
