ARLINGTON, Texas — A man is dead and another is in a hospital after they were shot outside of a gentlemen's club in Arlington, police say.
According to officials, officers responded to a shooting call at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Majesty Drive.
When police arrived, they say they found two men with gunshot wounds lying in the roadway near the club's parking lot.
One of the men was pronounced dead on the scene. Records from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Abel Alberto Rodriguez.
The other man shot, who police only describe as 40 years old, was sent to a hospital. He is expected to recover.
Investigators believe this incident started when the 40-year-old confronted the suspected shooter at the club. Officials say the two had previous conflict.
The 40-year-old and the suspected shooter were allegedly arguing outside of the club when Rodriguez pulled up to the club and got involved. A short time later, police say that's when shots were fired.
"Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was done in self-defense," Arlington police said in a news release. "After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the decision was made not to file criminal charges against the suspected shooter at this time. He was released and was not arrested."
No other information is available.
