ARLINGTON, Texas — A fatal auto-pedestrian crash shut down Texas 360 in Arlington for several hours early Friday, officials said.
The highway was closed in the southbound direction at Avenue J, just north of Interstate 30, around 4 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
By 8:30 a.m., the highway was open again.
Police said that a man was trying to run across the highway around 3:25 a.m. when he was struck by an SUV and died.
The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder is cooperating with officers and will not face any criminal charges, Arlington PD said.
It's unclear why the man ran across the highway. He did not have any type of identification on him when officers arrived at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release his name once he is positively identified and next of kin are notified.
