DALLAS — More than 320 American Airlines jobs in Dallas-Fort Worth will be cut as part of a reorganization of its customer service staffing, the airline announced Monday afternoon.
"As part of these updates, we are creating a new Customer Success team that will be dedicated to providing more convenient, elevated support to American Airlines customers with some of their most complex travel needs," the airline said in a statement.
All 656 of the positions will be permanently eliminated as the Fort Worth-based carrier is changing how it handles post-travel customer support.
"Creating this new customer success team of upskilled team members and relying on our international team to provide around-the-clock availability will help us not only deliver on that commitment but provide an even higher level of support in the future," the statement said.
The carrier says the posting for the new customer success team will be available exclusively to impacted team members for the next couple of weeks before it is opened to the general public.
American will retain the employees until March 30. Those who are not able to get another job within the company will be eligible for a severance package, according to a statement sent to WFAA.
