CELINA, Texas — Police in Celina, Texas canceled an Amber Alert for a teen who was last seen on Monday.
The 17-year-old was found near Princeton, Texas unharmed and returned to the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS).
Before Thursday, the teen was last seen on Jan. 2nd. WFAA did confirm through a family member that she had left a foster home in the Celina area. CPS said they were working with the investigation.
Police told WFAA that the teen may left voluntarily at first, but officers are still trying to figure that out.
"We wanna make sure we're being very judicious about how we are using our Amber Alert system, but in this case, it's moved beyond a missing person," Celina Police Chief John Cullison said.
Cullison said the Amber Alert was vetted through Department of Public Safety (DPS) to make sure it met certain parameters.
The chief told WFAA that his department is exploring all motives in the case, including custodial dynamics.
