ALVORD, Texas — A boil water notice issued for a portion of Alvord has been lifted, according to a post made on the city's Facebook.
The city said in the statement that the notice, which had been issued on Sunday, was lifted on Wednesday.
In a statement on Sunday, the city said the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Alvord to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption. The City of Alvord stated that all water used for washing hands and face, brushing teeth and drinking.
According to the City of Alvord, the boil water notice stemmed from a water leak from a fire hydrant off Lynch Drive. That leak brought pressure down for nearby residents. The city emphasized the notice was not an issue of contamination, just low pressure.
A spokesperson for the city told WFAA 175 residents were impacted.
