Advance Auto Parts to cut more than 140 Texas jobs as part of mass store closures

More than 140 Advance Auto Parts employees in Texas will lose their jobs around the start of next year as the chain of automotive parts stores closes hundreds of locations across the country.

Advance Auto Parts and its subsidiary Straus-Frank Enterprises LLC plan to cut 143 jobs across the state, including around 80 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letters filed with the Texas Workforce Commission. Jobs will be also be cut in the Houston area.

Ten cuts will be in Grand Prairie, 20 in Fort Worth at two locations, nine in Forest Hill, 18 in Dallas and 22 in Plano at two locations.

Advance Auto Parts Inc. (NYSE: AAP), based in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced plans in its third-quarter report on Nov. 14 for 523 corporate-owned locations, 204 independent locations and four distribution centers to close.

These closures are part of a "strategic plan to improve business performance with a focus on core retail improvements," the company stated.

Advance Auto Parts did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The layoff dates range from Jan. 27, 2025, to Feb. 15, 2025, according to the TWC filing.
