A teenager is dead after being thrown from his car during a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.
Denton Police received a call regarding a major accident just after 4 p.m. Witnesses told police that the vehicle drove over the median while heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 “at a high rate of speed.”
The vehicle hit the safety cables between the northbound and southbound lanes, then rolled “several times” down the embankment of an overpass and came to a stop on Cowling Road.
“The 18-year-old male driver was thrown from the vehicle into the far embankment,” according to police.
The driver has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
