DALLAS — A 17-year-old teen was killed in East Dallas Tuesday after someone from another car shot into the back of his vehicle.
Officers were called at 5:14 p.m. to the 3600 block of Cedar Lake Drive, near South Buckner Road and Military Parkway, police said.
Officers found the teen in blue Ford F-150 with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity hasn't been released at this time.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Earlier the same day, the Dallas Police Department published a post on its DPD Beat Blog page about how there have been no murders in the city for 12 days.
Earlier in June, Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé Hall spoke to the city's Public Safety Committee, where she said Dallas could be on track to have 228 murders in 2019.
"Where we are right now with 97 murders, we did an analysis to say that if each month is consistent with previous months and previous years, then we could be on pace with 228 murders this year,” Hall said.
