WESTLAKE, Texas — A teenager was killed after his BMW collided with another vehicle in the town of Westlake, according to the Keller Police Department.

On March 30, Keller PD responded to a crash just before 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Main Street (U.S. 377) and Westport Parkway.

When first responders arrived they discovered the unconscious 17-year-old driver in the black BMW and began lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as a resident of Keller, Texas.

According to Keller police, the preliminary investigation shows the "black BMW was traveling southbound on U.S. 377 at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for the red light at Westport Parkway before colliding with the white Toyota."

The people inside the Toyota walked away with minor injuries.

At this time police say it's unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
