FORT WORTH, Texas — Westbound lanes of Interstate 20 in Fort Worth were shut down at Hemphill Street Tuesday night following a deadly crash.
Fort Worth police said the crash involved four vehicles including a semi-truck. According to Medstar, three ambulances responded to the scene around 7:42 p.m., one patient died and three others were injured.
TxDOT cameras in the area show a long line of backed-up traffic slowly moving along the highway.
Fort Worth police said the semi-truck had come to a stop due to traffic congestion. After this, a chain-reaction collision occurred involving the three other vehicles.
One of the drivers involved in the accident was struck from behind and died, police said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the victim once the next of kin has been notified.
"The Fort Worth Police Department extends its condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event," the department said in a news release.
