Lanes reopened: Driver, child killed in US Highway 380 crash in Denton

Drivers should seek an alternate route as road closures are expected to last at least 2 hours.

DENTON, Texas -- A driver and a child are dead following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 380 Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a small sedan traveling eastbound crossed the center lane and hit head-on a utility trucking traveling in the other direction near 380 and North Trinity Road.

The driver of the sedan and a girl were pronounced dead at the scene. A second child riding the in the car was also sent to a hospital. The driver of the truck was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Their names have not been released at this time.

The crash shut down both westbound and eastbound lanes for several hours, but all lanes have reopened shortly before 7 p.m., according to Denton police.
