CELINA, Texas — Texas Health Resources has bought 21 acres of land in fast-growing Collin County.

Arlington-based Texas Health Resources bought land at the northwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and the Collin County Outer Loop. The seller was Tollway Celina 45 Partners, records show.

The deal closed Oct. 23, Collin County deed records show.

Texas Health Resources say plans for the land aren’t solidified, but hospitals are in the works in fast-growing Celina. Methodist Health System’s Methodist Celina Medical Center is expected to open in 2025 on 46 acres beside the Dallas North Tollway and FM428.

“We routinely purchase land as a normal course of doing business in the North Texas area. Plans for that tract of land have not been solidified at this time,” Texas Health Resources said in a statement.  “Communities north of the Metroplex continue to see strong population growth, and as a health care market leader in the region, Texas Health’s goal is to grow with our community.”

Celina, which is about 40 miles north of downtown Dallas, was the fastest-growing American city among cities and towns with a population of at least 20,000 between July 2022 and July 2023, according to the U.S Census Bureau. Celina’s population grew 27% during that time, data shows.

Texas Health Resources is a faith-based nonprofit health system that covers 16 counties and more than 7 million people in North Texas.

The Celina project would mark the health system’s latest in North Texas. Texas Health Resources announced plans for a 242,000-square-foot hospital in Forney in August.
