Texas Health Resources, one of the largest health systems in North Texas, is laying off hundreds of workers.
The layoffs will affect less than three percent of Texas Health's 24,000 employees, according to a news release from the company Thursday.
"While we regret having to take these actions, we want to be clear that only a small number of employees were affected,” Michelle Kirby, Texas Health’s chief people officer, said in the release.
The layoffs, which weren't limited to just one Texas Health hospital or location, "reflect how Texas Health is reacting to market demands," the news release said.
Texas Health operates 28 hospitals across North Texas, including Presbyterian in Dallas and Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. Texas Health also operates more than 100 outpatient facilities across the area, including satellite emergency rooms, surgery centers and imaging centers.
