PLANO, Texas — Medical City Plano will undergo a $76 million expansion project to double one of its towers, hospital officials confirmed with WFAA.
The project is intended to address increased demand at the hospital and will add patient beds, jobs and care for cancer patients, officials said.
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, two floors will add 60 medical and surgical patient rooms, and two floors will have shell space for future patient rooms. The rooftop of the tower will have three helipads with support space for emergency medical services, the filing said.
Hospital officials confirmed with WFAA that construction is set to begin in April and take neatly a year to complete. It should be finished by April 2026, according to the TDLR filing.
Medical City Plano is one of the city's top employers, according to the Plano Economic Development website. This expansion will bring even more jobs to the campus, hospital officials said.
