A measles case was confirmed at Schell Elementary School in Richardson, according to a letter sent to parents by Collin County Health Care Services.
"Anyone at the school on January 5, 2016 could have had exposure to the case," said the letter, dated Jan. 12.
Collin County Health Care Services said it is "reviewing exposure status."
Anyone who has come in contact with a measles patient is advised to monitor themselves for symptoms from the fifth day after first exposure until the 21st day after the last exposure, according to CCHCS.
Symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, according to the Center for Disease Control. White spots may begin to develop in the mouth two or three days after symptoms begin, the CDC says.
"Any person suspected of having measles should contact their healthcare provider and stay at home until four days after rash onset has passed," the letter reads.
It was not clear if the confirmed case of the measles was in a student or faculty member.
