Runner will face off against UTSW medical staff in marathon at Mavs game

The Mavericks and UTSW are holding a marathon contest during the Mavs-Spurs game to promote heart health awareness and advocacy.

DALLAS — Fans who attend Wednesday night's Dallas Mavericks game will not only get to catch a glimpse of 7-foot, 4-inch French sensation Victor Wembanyama, but also see a riveting race in the stands.

The Mavs told WFAA that in honor of American Heart Month, and appropriately held on Valentine's Day, they're partnering with UT Southwestern to hold a marathon contest to promote heart health awareness and advocacy. In section 101, a team of UTSW medical staff will race side-by-side on a treadmill against a marathon runner.

UTSW partners every year with the Dallas Heart Walk, which drew 2,700 registered walkers and 198 teams in 2023. The UT Southwestern community raised over $39,000 for the American Heart Association
