COVID-19 testing capacity and options have expanded across North Texas over the past four months. Read on for details on the types of tests and where you can be tested.
State's interactive map shows testing sites near you
The Texas Department of State Health Services has a map that allows Texas residents to find testing sites, including drive-thru sites and walk-in locations.
Users can click the map icons to see what testing requirements are in place, the testing location hours and what type of test is done at each site.

What is an antibody test?
These tests, called serological tests, take a small amount of blood to test and see if a person has the antibodies to fight COVID-19; meaning they've likely already had the disease.
Up to 50% of people never have symptoms, so the antibody tests could reveal who’s best prepared to go back to work or to schools and be able to help in hospitals. It would also allow more people to know if they’re able to donate possible life-saving plasma.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, "the test detects the body’s immune response to the infection caused by the virus rather than detecting the virus itself."
Where can I get an antibody test done?
Total Primary Care is offering FDA-approved antibody tests to people who are not sick at Total Men's Primary Care locations in D-FW.
Metroplex Medical Centres offer two types of antibody tests: the LabCorp Antibody Test and a Rapid Antibody Test.
The LabCorp test will be billed to insurance for those with coverage, is covered 100% for those with Medicare, and cost $150 for anyone who is uninsured.
The Rapid Antibody Test is $50 for the general public and $35 for first responders or health care providers. To learn more and schedule and appointment, click here.
PM Pediatrics, the nation's largest provider of pediatric urgent care, offers COVID-19 antibody testing for children and adults living in the same household.
The testing will be provided at 36 locations, including four in North Texas: McKinney, Flower Mound, The Colony and Richardson.
Tests are open to anyone in a single household with at least one child. PM Pediatrics is waiving a co-pay for the testing but individuals may be responsible for the cost through their insurance provider. The test is $65 for people without insurance. Testing begins at noon at most offices.
All visits must be booked in advance via the PM Pediatrics Anywhere app.

What are self-swab testing kits?
The self-swab process allows the patient to swab shallowly in their nose, rather than the traditional deep nasal cavity swab that is performed by a health care worker.
Self-swab tests are being offered at a number of locations across North Texas.
CVS Health
People 3 and older can get tested at CVS Health drive-thru and rapid-result testing sites.
The self-swab test is available for people 12 years old and older who meet the Center for Disease Control testing criteria. Results are usually available within two to three days, CVS said.
Patients can go to CVS.com to schedule a test nearest them. A parent or legal guardian must complete the online registration in advance at CVS.com for all minor patients, and patients 3 to 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when they come to be tested.

Tarrant County test sites
Tarrant County Public Health is providing free COVID tests for people 10 years old and older with the full PCR/NAAT test. This is not a rapid test though the results are available the same evening or next afternoon in most cases.
Tests are done with a shallow nasal swab. People must have a valid photo ID.

Testing in Dallas County
Testing in Dallas County is open to any resident ages 5 and older.

Open Wednesday - Saturday
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. or until testing limit is reached. No appointment is required.

Parkland Hospital has opened eight community-based clinics open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only for current Parkland patients who meet the medically necessary criteria. Patients can call the COVID-19 patient line at 214-590-8060, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or visit www.parklandhospital.com/COVID19testing.
Baylor Scott & White Health: Locations are offering COVID-19 testing for symptomatic individuals with a primary care physician order.
Methodist: People may call 214-933-8811 to be screened for an appointment. More information is available at MethodistHealthSystem.org/COVID-19.
Children’s Health: With an increase in pediatric COVID-19 cases, Children’s Health recommends parents take their children to one of the following COVID-19 testing locations: Children's Health PM Urgent Care and MD Medical Group.
Medical City: Medical City Healthcare provides COVID-19 testing for patients only.
Texas Health Resources: Texas Health also is continuing to screen each person entering care facilities as well as limiting visitors for the same reasons.

Dallas residents with mobility issues can get tested at-home
Dallas residents who lack transportation or have mobility issues have better access to COVID-19 tests.
The testing is available for residents who have mobility issues. The testing service team will directly come to those residents' homes.
To be eligible, you must:
- Reside in any ZIP code in the City of Dallas.
- Not have transportation or means to get to a testing site
- Appointments for mobile in-home testing are free for eligible residents and can be scheduled between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday through the MCI diagnostic Center screening line by calling 1-833-657-1887. Results will be available within 48-72 hours
CVS offers self-swab test sites across North Texas
CVS Health has added more than 1,800 testing sites in 33 states, including dozens across North Texas. These sites use self-swab tests and are available to people who meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria, in addition to age guidelines.
Patients must register in advance to schedule an appointment.
Patients must stay in their cars and will be directed to the pharmacy drive-thru window, where they will be provided with a test kit and instructions. Tests will be sent to an independent third-party lab for processing.
Walmart
Walmart has a number of testing sites in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for people 18 and older.
Where are the testing sites? Visit QuestCOVID19.com to see if there is a location near you. Please be sure to check with your local department of health for additional locations supported by HHS.
Appointments are required and there is no out-of-pocket cost for those being tested. Find a location and make an appointment.
Kroger
Kroger offers a number of drive-thru testing locations in North Texas. People who wish to be tested will be offered a self-swab test.
Those locations include:

- Fort Worth Field Code Office at 4833 Village Creek Road in Fort Worth
- Kroger Pharmacy at 4851 Legacy Drive in Frisco
- Kroger Pharmacy at 1250 N Preston Road in Prosper
- Kroger Pharmacy at 1631 SW Wilshire Boulvard in Burleson
- Kroger Pharmacy at 5101 W Sublett Road in Arlington
Residents can register for testing and make an appointment online: krogerhealth.com/covidtesting.
Test results are expected within approximately 72 hours. The Fort Worth and Dallas testing sites are estimated to handle 200 tests per day each.
Walgreens
Walgreens is operating free drive-thru testing locations in North Texas for people 3 years old and over.
Walgreens pharmacists will oversee a patients' self-swab test, which is the Abbott IDNOW COVID-19 test, the company said in a statement.
People who wish to be tested must meet criteria, complete an online assessment and reserve an appointment online. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
Parkland offers tests to their patients at multiple locations
Parkland Health and Hospital System offers drive-thru testing by appointment only for current patients who meet medically necessary criteria with a Parkland doctor's order.
At Parkland Memorial Hospital testing will take place in the parking lot at 4811 Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas. First responders and healthcare workers can also be tested at this location.
Testing is also available at their multiple community-based clinics.
Patients can call the COVID-19 patient line at 214-590-8060, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
