Closure of home health agency support center to result in 102 layoffs

A home health agency is closing a North Dallas corporate office and laying off 102 employees.  

Intrepid U.S.A. Inc. is ceasing operations at its national support center at 14841 Dallas Pkwy., according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter it sent to the state. Thirteen employees based in Dallas and 89 working remotely who report to the office are expected to lose their jobs between Aug. 5 and Aug. 19.

Attempts to reach the company for additional details were unsuccessful.

Headquartered in Dallas and founded in 1990, Intrepid provides health care services to patients in their homes and has locations across 14 states, including three in Texas, according to its website.

The shutdown of Intrepid’s Dallas office is the latest in recent closings of health care-related facilities in North Texas. 

California-headquartered medical scrubs company Careismatic Brands Inc. closed Dallas distribution centers at 35500 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and 4715 Mountain Creek Pkwy. on May 31, resulting in the loss of 404 jobs. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January and turned over control to its lenders to eliminate $833 million in debt.

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Home Health in Flower Mound also plans to stop operations around June 30. The shutdown of the rehabilitation clinic will impact 78 employees including physical therapists, a clinical manager and vocational nurses.
