DALLAS — Medical City Heart Hospital in Dallas is adding three floors to add a new cardiovascular intensive care unit, additional bed space and more.

Construction is underway at the hospital at 11970 North Central Expressway in Dallas, and the $60 million project will add more than 60,000 square feet.

The space will house the 28-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, specially-equipped ICU beds for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which is an advanced life support therapy for patients whose heart or lungs are not functioning properly, and shell space for additional beds in the future.

“Since opening in 2019, Medical City Heart Hospital has been the destination of choice for cardiovascular care excellence in North Texas,” said Medical City Dallas CEO Jay DeVenny. “This vital and exciting growth will enable us to treat more patients with the most complex heart conditions.”

Construction is expected to finish next summer. The project is part of Medical City Healthcare’s plan to invest more than $1.5 billion in capital improvements, spent over five years across the Medical City Healthcare system.

Medical City Heart Hospital, a Medical City Dallas facility, is a 63-bed acute care hospital and offers specialized cardiac services, including complex vascular and heart surgery, advanced heart failure treatment, minimally invasive valvular surgery and other specialized heart care.
