COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — Alberto Alcivar-Rosales, a former bilingual teacher at a Collin County elementary school, was arrested Friday morning by Collin County officials and charged with indecency with a child, according to a statement from Community ISD.
Alcivar was a former bilingual teacher at McClendon Elementary School from Aug. 2014-June 2018, school officials said.
In late January, a student came forward to the Community ISD Police Department and alleged Alcivar made inappropriate sexual contact with them, school officials said. Following an investigation in tandem with other local law enforcement agencies and the Child Advocacy Center, officials arrested Alcivar.
He is currently in Collin County Jail with a bond set at $25,000, records show.
Alcivar also worked in another school district in North Texas before working at Community ISD. He worked in Garland ISD at Northlake Elementary School s late as 2014, the Garland ISD executive director of communications confirmed.
Community ISD sent out a letter to parents Friday detailing the arrest. It can be read in full here. It reads in part:
"This incident is very troubling, and we want to assure you that the alleged reprehensible acts of this individual do not in any way align with the values or character of Community ISD. We are in the business of taking care of children and our first priority is always the safety of all students. We will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement and the legal process.
Our counselors are available to meet with students to discuss any concerns they may have. If you or your child have any relevant information you would like to report, please contact the Community ISD Police Department at 972-843-6469."
