HAMBURG, NY -- The grandson of civil rights leader Mahatma Gandhi paid a visit to Western New York Sunday.
Arun Gandhi gave a talk at the SSJ Sister Karen Klimczak Center for Nonviolence at Immaculata Academy.
Gandhi compared his grandfather's work to that of Sister Klimczak. She had actively promoted peace and nonviolence all across Western New York, before she was killed in 2006.
Gandhi says one of the biggest issues facing the civil rights movement today, is how to keep efforts organized.
"There is a better understanding of the need for peace," said Gandhi. "There are a lot of people who want to do something but they don't know what to do and how to do it."
Gandhi was invited to the Center for Nonviolence to mark ten years since Sister Klimczak was killed. Sunday's event also featured a tribute to her and all the things she did to promote peace in our area.
