Four-alarm fire burns down apartment buildings in Oak Cliff

Flames tore through the roof of a two-story apartment building in the 800 block of N. Ewing.

DALLAS -- Nearly 100 firefighters battled a four-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Oak Cliff, southwest of downtown Dallas Tuesday.

As of 8:30 p.m., officials said the fire is mostly under control. Earlier, flames tore through the roof of a two-story apartment building in the 800 block of N. Ewing. Dallas Fire-Rescue were called to the scene shortly after 6:45 p.m. No one was injured.

The fire sent a massive cloud of smoke into the sky. When firefighters first arrived at the scene, they saw flames coming from a group of apartment buildings. Officials say firefighters pulled back into the defensive position.

One of the three buildings had residents. The fire forced eight residents out of their homes.

The cause of the fire remains unclear.
