TELLURIDE, Colo. — North Texas native Selena Gomez recently surprised fans at a high school volleyball game.
The Grand Prairie-native singer, actor and entrepreneur was in Telluride, Colorado over the weekend for the Telluride Film Festival to promote her new movie “Emilia Perez” and attended the game after fans at Telluride High School made a sign asking her to attend. The festival ends Monday.
“They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!” Gomez wrote on Instagram.
Gomez posted a photo of the sign, which read “Selena Gomez, please sing the National Anthem @ one of [our] home games.”
The “Single Soon” singer also documented her visit to the high school, sharing a video of her walking into the gym as someone screamed her name and the team gathered around her. The post had more than 5 million likes as of Monday morning.
“I saw the sign so I had to come,” Gomez told the crowd in the video.
The “Only Murders in the Building” star also posed for a photo with the team and signed autographs.
The Colorado High School Activities Association also posted about the star’s visit.
“So cool of @selenagomez to surprise @TrideAthletics at its volleyball game,” the post read.
Gomez’ new movie that she was promoting, “Emlia Perez,” is a musical crime comedy about a lawyer in Mexico who helps “a feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he's always dreamed of being,” according to IMDB. It stars Zoe Saldana, Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascón and Edgar Ramirez.
“Emilia Perez” will be available to stream on Netflix Nov. 13.
