THE COLONY, Texas — Already had tickets to see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse before all of their North Texas locations closed Thursday? Galaxy Theatres in Grandscape in The Colony will accept your tickets through June 30.
All five Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations in North Texas have closed as the local franchise partner that operate the theaters filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the Texas-based theater chain announced Thursday. The closed North Texas locations are in Las Colinas, Richardson, Lake Highlands, Dallas, and Denton.
Galaxy Theatres at 5740 Grandscape Boulevard suite 100 in The Colony will accept pre-purchased tickets for the recently closed Alamo Drafthouse locations. To swap one of their tickets for a screening at Galaxy Theatres, visit guest services at Galaxy Theatres with proof of purchase of a ticket at Alamo Drafthouse.
Alamo Drafthouse gift cards or season passes aren’t eligible for the exchange, though.
"We know how important summer blockbusters are to theater goers and want guests who had planned to watch films at Alamo Drafthouse to be able to still enjoy the magic of movies on the big screen," said Michael Tovar, Galaxy Theatres sales marketing manager. "Movie theaters began as an important part of our communities and it is sad to see film houses close. We hope we can add a little help to those that were anticipating watching a film on the big screen."
