PLANO, Texas — Erykah Badu will share her DJ skills in North Texas on Thanksgiving Eve before families gather to share meals for the holiday.
The Dallas native and four-time Grammy winner is known as the “queen of neo-soul,” but has also graced music venues using the stage name DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown.
Badu will reprise her alter ego Wednesday when she will play a DJ set at Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall. For tickets, visit this website. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
She reportedly made her DJ debut in 2010 with a performance at The Joule hotel in Dallas, but alluded to DJing as far back as her days as a student at Booker T. Washington High School in a 2015 interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
“I don’t prepare. I’ve never prepared a playlist in my life,” Badu told the Hollywood Reporter at that time. “I just pick randomly, going with the vibration of the music.”
