Attorney for Yella Beezy addresses lawsuit accusing the rapper and Chris Brown of assault at Dickies Arena concert

The Texas rapper and R&B singer Chris Brown is named in a lawsuit alleging he and his entourage assaulted four men at a concert at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A lawsuit filed July 21 alleges R&B singer Chris Brown and his entourage beat four men after a concert in Fort Worth. Brown is named alongside Dallas rapper Yella Beezy and others as defendants in the lawsuit.

Yella Beezy's attorney, Daryl K. Washington, and the plaintiffs' attorney, Tony Buzbee, spoke with WFAA in separate Zoom interviews.

"Clearly, this was a lawsuit that was filed without doing the due diligence that is required," Washington told WFAA.

Washington said his client is innocent: Yella Beezy was at the concert, he said but had zero involvement in any alleged assault.

"When you have things that happen this fast it makes you wonder what’s the motivation behind it," he added.

Washington is pointing to the fact the lawsuit was filed on July 21. That is just one day after the concert on July 20.

"This appeared to be a lawsuit that was already drafted and was just waiting to fill in some of the blanks," he told WFAA.

"That's about as ridiculous -- you know who you're talking to right?" Tony Buzbee said when asked for his response to that remark. "I represented the governor of the state, the attorney general."

Buzbee, a high-profile attorney out of Houston, said he was very particular about who he sued because his clients were very particular about who assaulted them.

"You should never go say things to the media when you don’t know what you’re talking about," he said in response to Washington's comments.

Buzbee told WFAA he collected about 10 witness statements and surveillance video, though he declined to share it.

"The video shows these four men were attacked by a large group of people, directed by Chris Brown," he said.

Washington said Yella Beezy would not be implicated in any piece of evidence because he simply did not do anything. He also said Yella Beezy will consider legal action of his own.

"We’re gonna prove and we’re gonna show the claims filed against my client is frivolous," Washington told WFAA.

No criminal charges have been filed yet in this case, but the Fort Worth Police Department is investigating and asking any witnesses to come forward.
