Police have released an image of a suspect in the shooting of a man early Thursday morning in Balch Springs.
It started when a man called 911 when he noticed someone stealing parts from a Ford F-150.
When the alleged thief saw the caller, he got into a dark, four-door car and began to drive away. In a truck, the caller began to follow the suspect's car on Jills Drive, police said.
When the four-door car began to turn around, the driver fired off five shots into the caller's truck as he passed. The driver also fired an additional three to four rounds at a second person who walked outside after hearing the gunshots.
Police were called to the scene of the shooting at about 4:30 a.m. in the 11100 block of Lake June Road.
Upon arriving at the scene they found the original 911 caller with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second person was not hit by the gunfire.
Police released an image of the suspect captured by surveillance video. Police have asked anyone with information regarding the shooting or suspect call Det. B. Allsup at 972-557-6015.
Police have warned people not to approach the suspect as he may be armed and dangerous.
