ARLINGTON, Texas — The University of Texas at Arlington broke ground for its new student housing building called Maverick Hall on Wednesday.
The new student living space comes as UTA sees a notable rise in freshman enrollment and a growing demand for on-campus housing. Last fall, UTA enrolled 4,809 first-time college students, that's about an 8% increase from the fall of 2022.
Maverick Hall will be a five-story 205,638-square-foot building, featuring 654 beds with a mix of single and double-occupancy rooms designed to cultivate a vibrant student community. The price tag is about $116.2 million.
The university says this project aligns with its dedication to ensuring an unmatched living and learning experience for its rising student community.
This resident hall will also include versatile learning spaces, student engagement areas, innovative technology, centralized gathering spots, and open kitchens on each floor to encourage connections among students.
Construction is set to finish by the summer of 2025.
