TERRELL, Texas — On Monday, as Terrell ISD was welcoming students back for the new school year, one middle schooler was hit by a car, the district said.
At about 7:20 a.m., the student was exiting their parent's vehicle in front of Furlough Middle School when they were hit by a car going the other direction, the district said in a statement.
The student suffered minor abrasions but is OK, the district said. But out of an abundance of caution, he was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
"Parents are reminded to drop off students in the designated drop off zones and that vehicles adhere to school speed zones during drop off and dismissal," the district said.
