KELLER, Texas — A Keller ISD middle school is closed through Dec. 4 after damage caused by a roofing project, the district says.
Keller ISD says a re-roofing project at Fossil Hill Middle School in the 3800 block of Staghorn Circle South over the Thanksgiving break led to debris that damaged the interior of the school building. School is expected to resume there Dec. 5.
“While crews were able to repair the damage that took place, Keller ISD’s facilities team wants to ensure that the cleanup is properly completed before students and staff occupy the building,” the district said in a statement.
District officials say building technicians are set to come to the campus Monday to assess the project. Parents of students involved in athletics, fine arts or other extracurricular activities are asked to watch for additional communication from program directors and coaches about competitions or performances.
“We apologize for this interruption, as we know that this sudden change in schedule may present challenges for many families,” Keller ISD’s statement continues. “Please know that this was not a decision we made lightly, and our preference is always to have students in school. At this time, we do not anticipate that these missed days will need to be made up.”
