GRAPEVINE, Texas — The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees OK’d placing a $150 million bond package on the May 4 ballot.
The funding will be used to replace aging roofs, electrical, plumbing, lift stations, and heating and air conditioning equipment, as well as safety and security updates, technology infrastructure, and more.
The bond is not expected to increase the debt portion of the tax rate, the district said in a news release. That rate is about 19.57 cents per $100 of property value.
The May bond proposal is based on recommendations from a committee of district residents who reviewed $600 million in potential projects.
“We are so grateful for all of our neighbors and community members who spent so much time and dedication working to prioritize needs and develop recommendations to update and safeguard our facilities,” said GCISD board president Shannon Braun.
Voters will decide on three propositions:
- Proposition A - $134.2 million for safety, buses, and school updates. This includes roofs, HVAC, electrical systems, and updates related to safety, security, and technology for all schools in the district.
- Proposition B - $10.2 million for instructional technology. The district says Proposition B is designed to continue existing technology devices to support learning.
- Proposition C - $5.5 million for swim center improvements. The district says Proposition C addresses corrosion at the GCISD Swim Center by adding filtration and updating and replacing equipment that is past its useful life.
Election day is May 4 and early voting is April 22-30. The district says there will be informational meetings about the bond proposals later.
