9 students arrested in North Texas high school locker room hazing incident, district police say

Farmersville ISD said the school's disciplinary actions are separate from criminal charges.

FARMERSVILLE, Texas — Multiple students have been charged in a hazing incident at Farmersville High School, district officials have confirmed.

Farmersville ISD Police Chief Steve Wade said police were made aware of the alleged hazing incidents on Sept. 23 and one student was arrested that same day. The eight other students were arrested on Tuesday.

There were at least three victims, Wade said, all student athletes. The incident reportedly happened in the locker room.

All evidence gathered from the Farmersville ISD Police Department's investigation will be sent to the Collin County District Attorney for processing, the district said.

In a statement to parents, Farmersville ISD said its police are collaborating with the district attorney's office, Child Protective Services, its Title IX coordinator and other relevant agencies.

"We understand that this situation is concerning for many as it is for the District, and we want to assure the community that investigations of this nature require time and careful attention to detail," the district said. "Separating rumors from facts is paramount. We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to ensure that all necessary steps are taken."

The district further said it would be implementing further measures to prevent future incidents, such as awareness training for student athletes.

"It is important to note that school disciplinary actions are separate from criminal charges," the district said in a release. "School discipline will be individualized, taking into account the seriousness of the offense, the student's prior disciplinary record, statutory requirements and any relevant disabilities."

The district said counseling and support services are also available for any affected students or families.

"We continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of all our students as we move forward in addressing this matter," the release concludes.

WFAA has reached out to the district and local authorities for more information.
