PLANO, Texas — The Plano Independent School District appointed new principals at two of their senior high schools for the upcoming 2024-25 school year.

Kennitra Robertson will lead Plano Senior High School, while Billie-Jean Lee will lead Plano West Senior High School.

Last year, Plano East Senior High School also appointed a new principal when David Jones replaced former principal George King when he retired.

Robertson will replace Plano Senior's previous principal Jeff Banner who was named McKinney Independent School District's new Executive Director of Secondary School Leadership in early May. Prior to her appointment, Robertson served as principal of Vines High School and Robinson Middle School.

“At Plano Senior High School, we will continue to honor the rich traditions and achievements that have shaped our school's proud history, while preparing and encouraging students to be successful in their postsecondary endeavors,” said Robertson.

At Plano West, Lee will succeed retiring principal Janis Williams. Lee has worked in the school district since 1989 and was most recently the principal at Jasper High School. Lee also served as principal at Robinson Middle School and the assistant principal at Renner Middle School.

“I am excited for this opportunity to lead the Blue Nation and continue serving the students and families in the West cluster. I have been fortunate to be a part of this community for many years, and I am honored to be named principal of Plano West,” Lee said.

Robertson has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Louisiana State University and a master's degree in educational administration from Texas A&M-Commerce. She is certified as a principal for early childhood through grade 12 and as a generalist for grades four through eight.

“Kennitra has a proven track record here in Plano ISD. She has not only led at a very high level at each campus but is also very active on several district committees,” said Steve Ewing, the Plano ISD Executive Director for School Leadership and Innovation.

Lee earned her bachelor's degree in music education from Henderson State University and her master's degree in music education from Texas A&M-Commerce. Along with her principal and superintendent certifications, Lee also holds a mid-management certification.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Billie-Jean several years, and I can say she is an outstanding leader who embodies the mission and vision of Plano ISD," Ewing said.
