Two Irving ISD school remain closed due to power outages after severe storms

Irving is one area in North Texas experiencing power outages following severe storms that swept through the metroplex Tuesday.
The recommendation comes amid high levels of stress and burnout among teachers.

IRVING, Texas — Two Irving ISD schools will be closed Thursday following severe storms and power outages. 

The Irving Independent School District announced Thursday that two of its schools, Good Elementary School and Austin Middle School, still do not have power as of 6 a.m. May 30. The last day of school will be cancelled while all other Irving ISD schools will reopen today Thursday, May 30, the last day of school for the district. 

Thursday is also an scheduled early release day, according to the district. 

● Full-day PreK, Elementary Schools and Singley Academy will dismiss at 12:15 PM (after-school care for tuition-based PreK will be available until 4:30 PM)
● Middle Schools will dismiss at 12:45 PM
● Cardwell Career Preparatory Center will dismiss at 1 PM and
● Irving, MacArthur and Nimitz High Schools will dismiss at 1:15 PM

The Irving area currently has thousands of people without power following storms that hit the area hard Tuesday morning.
