FORT WORTH, Texas — With the first day of school around the corner, Goodwill North Central Texas is offering teachers a discount on school supplies.

The Goodwill Outlet, located at 2452 Mansfield Hwy in Fort Worth, will host a teacher surplus sale on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Items will be sold for just 99 cents per pound! A valid school ID must be presented at checkout for the discount to apply.

Teachers can expect to find crafts and items to decorate their classroom including binders, glue, yarn and other crafting materials, storage containers, writing and coloring utensils, seasonal decorations and educational games in sale bins.

“The Goodwill Outlet isn’t your typical Goodwill store,” said Rosemary Cruz, Vice President of Retail Sales and Donated Goods for Goodwill North Central Texas. “The store is set up with rolling bins that are brought out with fresh merchandise every 30 minutes. Shoppers dig through the tables to find their deals."

One row in the store will be exclusive to educators from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., but the discount will apply to anything store-wide all day. This offer is open to all in the education field, including teachers, homeschool parents and other educators.

Many teachers nationwide reach into their own pockets to purchase school supplies throughout the year. According to the National Education Association, teachers on average spend $500 to $750 of their own money every year on supplies their students need.
