Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, an all-girls magnet school in Dallas, grabbed the No. 1 ranking in Niche's annual list of the top 20 public middle schools in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The top 20 ranking is based on an analysis of key statistics and reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality and high school ratings. According to Niche, SAT/ACT scores have been removed from this year's rankings to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process. Read more about the report here.
Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School boasts 592 students in grade six through grade 12.

• Lawler Middle School took the No. 2 spot in Niche’s rankings. The Frisco school currently serves 953 students in grade six through grade eight.
• Coppell Middle School – East ranked No. 3. The school serves 1,081 students in grade six through eight.
• No. 4 was Westlake Academy, a charter school that serves 877 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Westlake Academy also took the No. 1 spot in Niche's ranking of best charter elementary schools in DFW.
• Rounding out the top 5 was Bill Hays Middle School in Frisco, which has a student population of 1,680 in grades six through eight.
