Arlington ISD approves pay raise for employees for the 2024-25 school year

The 4% raise applies to teachers, librarians, and other eligible employees

ARLINGTON, Texas — Employees for Arlington Independent School District are getting pay raises across the board.

Teachers, librarians, and other eligible employees will receive a 4% raise for the 2024-25 school year. The raise puts the starting salary for new teachers at $64,600, according to a release from Arlington ISD. These raises come as districts nationwide shift their focus to retention in the face of a teacher shortage. The district says they offer additional stipends for athletics positions, bilingual teachers, and special education teachers.

Hourly positions are also getting a bump up. Classroom teacher assistants will see an increase from $17 to $19 per hour, and special education teacher assistants will increase from $18 to $20 per hour, Arlington ISD says.

The district is also implementing a $16 per hour minimum wage for bus drivers, custodians, food service managers, and security guards.

Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSP) will see a major increase in their pay, jumping from $67,648 to $80,186. LSSP interns will earn $56,635 per year.

“We appreciate the thoughtful decision our board of trustees made to provide a 4% increase for eligible Arlington ISD employees,” said Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith. “We know these are challenging times in the educational field, and we want to continue to invest in our staff as they work to ensure Arlington ISD students learn, grow and thrive."

All pay increases will go into effect in July.
