DENTON, Texas — A Denton man is awaiting extradition from a Love County, Okla. jail to face charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after his mother's body was found late Sunday night inside her apartment.
According to a Fort Worth Star-Telegram report, Isaac Warriner, 22, was arrested Monday in Oklahoma after he traveled there from Denton over the weekend and became involved in a brief chase with police.
Denton police called the death of Sarah Warriner, 65, suspicious. They also said it was unclear how long Warriner was dead before the discovery of her body.
While police said there were obvious signs of trauma to the mother's body, her cause of death hasn't yet been determined.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram spoke Tuesday with the suspect's father, Kenneth Warriner, who said his son had been struggling with mental illness for months after suffering a mental break down.
According to his LinkedIn account, Warriner attended the University of North Texas, where he worked as a campus ambassador and directed the intern freshman program.
