DALLAS — Three sexual assaults in Dallas may have been committed by the same person who sexually assaulted at least two women in Bossier City, Louisiana in April, Dallas police said.
The department provided an update on their investigation into a teenage suspect who is believed to have raped women at their apartments on Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Oct. 30. The most recent happened at the Wildflower Apartments on Pineland Drive in northeast Dallas, and the others took place at the River Park complex on Montfort Drive and Windridge on Dallas Parkway in far north Dallas.
In each case, the suspect, described as a 5-foot-8, thin male between the age of 16 and 19, knocked on the door and solicited work or money before brandishing a gun and raping a woman inside.
A pair of similar rapes took place in late March and early April in Bossier City, just outside Shreveport about 180 miles east of Dallas.
“The suspect description and the way that he operated, the way that he committed these offenses, was very similar,” Dallas deputy police chief Thomas Castro said. The suspect in the Louisiana assaults also knocked on the door and asked for work or money before raping the women.
Castro called it a “coordinated effort” between the Dallas and Bossier City police departments.
Dallas police are asking for assistance from the public – including the suspect’s family or students who may have attended high school with him – in identifying the alleged serial rapist.
“We’re not doing this young man a favor by keeping his identity hidden,” Castro said. “These types of crimes don’t stop. He’s a sexual predator.”
