GARLAND, Texas — An 18-year-old man was charged with the murder of his brother after he allegedly shot him dead early Monday morning at a Garland home.
According to police, authorities were first called to the scene in the 200 block of East Taylor Drive after they received a report of a gunshot wound victim at about 4 a.m. Monday.
Upon their arrival, paramedics with the Garland Fire Department found 26-year-old Ryan Christopher Smart wounded inside the home. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said investigators discovered Smart was involved in a dispute with his brother, Brendan Demarcus Edwards, who allegedly pulled out a gun and fired the fatal shot. Edwards fled the scene but later turned himself into police.
