WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — White Settlement Police Department is searching for a woman who reportedly pepper sprayed four employees at an Academy Sports and Outdoors on Wednesday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the Academy Sports and Outdoors located at 1701 S. Cherry Lane around 5 p.m. and when they arrived, the suspect reportedly ran out of the store and jumped into a white Nissan.

Police say officers then located four employees who had just been sprayed with pepper spray, all were treated at the scene and will reportedly be okay.

According to police, the store manager had asked the woman to leave based on suspicious behaviors that were consistent with previous store thefts.

Police say the woman had pushed a cart full of clothes to the dressing room and went to get another cart, but the manager stopped the suspect and confronted her. At this moment, the suspect reportedly sprayed the manager and once the other employees came to help, they were sprayed too.

According to police, it is a Class A misdemeanor to use a chemical spray in an assault and police are working to get four counts of assault for an arrest warrant once they identify the suspect.

Police say they were able to use Flock license plate reader technology on the Nissan and are close to identifying the woman.
