Frisco police searching for woman wanted in connection with stealing puppy from Petland

Petland says the woman visited with the pup for about seven minutes, then was seen exiting the store with the dog as an employee retrieved its records.

FRISCO, Texas — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who is accused of stealing a puppy from a Petland in Frisco earlier this week.

According to a news release, Petland employees said that, just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, a woman asked an employee to allow her to visit with an 11-week-old Miniature Schnauzer in one of the socialization rooms at the store, which located in the 2900 block of Preston Road in Frisco.

Petland says the woman visited with the pup for about seven minutes, and then spoke with the store employee again about her interest in purchasing it.

After the employee went to retrieve the puppy’s records, the store’s surveillance video captured the woman quickly walking out of the front door of the store, and then running to a vehicle.

The employee came back as the woman was exiting and tried to get a read of the license plate on her vehicle but was unsuccessful, Petland said.

The following photo of the puppy has been released below. She's primarily black in color with some brown markings and floppy ears.
