DALLAS — A woman pleaded guilty to hitting and killing a Dallas police officer in a wrong-way crash in 2022, according to a new court filing.

Mayra Rebollar Pineda, 33, was sentenced to 15 years in prison two years after she struck Officer Jacob Arellano, 25, on Spur 408 where he was driving to work at the Northwest Patrol Division late Tuesday night Oct. 12th, 2022, WFAA previously reported.

Pineda pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison Oct. 10, 2024, court filings show. She will not face a jury trial as a result of the plea deal, according to the filing.

Rebollar Pineda hit the front left side of the Arellano's SUV, forcing it to go into the right lane and get hit by a tractor-trailer, police said. The SUV rolled several times before stopping on the right shoulder of Spur 408. He later died in the hospital, police said. Arellano joined the Dallas Police Department in June 2019, police said. He had a young son and a girlfriend

Rebollar Pineda registered a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit, according to an arrest affidavit. She was booked on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with bail set at $500,000, WFAA previously reported.

"Jacob was always the one who friends could lean on. Helping others came naturally," Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said at a service for Arellano in 2022. "His family was everything. And he knew the importance that there was nothing like home."
