Woman, 67, severely injured in Farmers Branch hit-and-run crash, family says

Police said she was thrown about 50 feet and broke her pelvis, among many other injuries. Her stepdaughters are now pleading for information to find the driver.

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — The Farmers Branch Police Department released surveillance video of the moment when an SUV struck a 67-year-old woman while crossing the street and drove off.

At about 9:19 p.m. on May 10, the woman was crossing the 2300 block of Valley View Lane near I-35 when a dark SUV hit her in the right-hand lane.

Police said she was thrown about 50 feet but remarkably survived. She was taken to Parkland Hospital, where she is now in critical but stable condition.

The woman's two stepdaughters identify her as Lenise Forsythe-Cohn. They told WFAA on Wednesday that their stepmom's spine was broken in three places, her liver was lacerated, and her pelvis, foot, and leg were also broken.

They told WFAA that Lenise was also dealing with an internal brain bleed and was in a coma for 24 hours before waking up.

Farmers Branch PD has also released three photos of the suspected vehicle.

Lenise lives nearby with her stepdaughter, Whitney Crone. Crone told WFAA that Lenise left to grab a snack and a drink at a convenience store on the other side of Valley View when she was struck.

Crone has visited her stepmom ever since she was hospitalized.

"You could see how much pain she was in. She woke up for a second and squeezed my hand as hard as she could--and you don't want to see your family or anybody like she was," Crone said.

Lenise's other daughter, Jennifer Clark, told WFAA that the person who hit her stepmom should come forward. She also said if anyone knows who the driver is, they should speak up.

"It's hard to see someone on a ventilator--they look totally like someone they're not," Clark said. "I'm scared to see her like that, knowing she's fighting this alone. I don't see how someone can hit someone like that without stopping and seeing if they're ok."

"If that were YOUR mother--you wouldn't want her lying in the street dying."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Famers Branch Police Department.
