According to police, the suspect and the victims knew each other and had planned to meet at Walmart, a fight started and the suspect discharged a firearm.
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Brian Taylor Speights, from Midlothian. Speights was taken into custody at Baylor Waxahachie by officers where he made a voluntary statement that he had shot both victims.
The first victim has been identified as 19-year-old Andrew Douglas Woodrum, from Cedar Hill, he had a gunshot to the torso and was transported by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in serious condition.
The second victim has been identified as 20-year-old Marshall Dillon Henry, from Midlothian. Henry had a gunshot wound in the arm and face and he was transported to Baylor Waxahachie in a private vehicle.
Witnesses said the incident began as a fist fight and then turned into a shooting.
Speights says on the way to the hospital he called 911 and told the operator he had shot the victims.
He is currently being held in the Midlothian jail pending arraignment and transfer to the Ellis County jail for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Felony of the Second Degree.
