WALLER COUNTY, Texas — On Wednesday, a Waller County woman was found decapitated in her home, according to the county sheriff. Now, her mother is speaking out.
Anggy Diaz, 21, was an immigrant from Nicaragua. KHOU 11's Anayeli Ruiz spoke with her mother, Dani, outside the country's consulate in Houston on Friday.
She said her daughter had only been married for a little longer than two months and wished Anggy had spoken up that something was wrong in her marriage.
Anggy's husband, Jared James Dicus, has been charged with murder in her death. Investigators believe Dicus killed her sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Her mother said she still can't believe Anggy is gone. Dani said she had fled Nicaragua from a violent relationship herself and had to leave Anggy behind in her aunt's care.

Four years ago, Anggy came to Texas from Nicaragua to reunite with her mother.
Now, her family is trying to get Anggy's body back to Nicaragua to give the woman who helped raise her a chance to say goodbye. Her family said Anggy considered her aunt a second mom and was working two jobs to pay for her cancer treatments.
The family sought help from the consulate of Nicaragua in Houston but said they were turned away.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise money for Diaz's funeral. Additionally, a vigil will be held in her honor on Saturday in Waller County at the Oak Hollow Pavilion.
What happened
Deputies were called to the home on Oak Hollow just before 4:30 p.m. in response to a dead woman on Wednesday. When they arrived at the scene, they found Diaz inside the couple's small home behind his parents' home.
Guidry said it appears that a kitchen knife was used in the killing of Diaz. He also said there were prior calls of a disturbance made from the home but "nothing to this effect or level of violence."
"That’s the world we live in today. It’s a gruesome scene," Guidry said. "Both sides of these families will be altered by it."
The sheriff said Diaz’s head appeared to have been cut off and her headless body was left inside the house.
Dicus remained at the home until deputies arrived. He and the family were taken in for questioning and he later confessed to the killing, according to detectives. This remains an ongoing investigation.
Her coworkers described her as a young woman full of joy and said she was always smiling.
Diaz and Dicus had just gotten married in October 2022 after they met at her job. Her friends said they could tell something wasn't right after the wedding, but never expected it to end in this way.
“She was happy, very happy with her husband," Diaz's boss, Veronica Jimenez, said. "But there were days when she was different. She was tired but I wasn’t sure if she was tired because of her job or because of her relationship.”
