ROCKWALL, Texas — The Rockwall Police Department has arrested two people on capital murder charges.
Rockwall PD said it arrested 32-year-old Abygail Chaparro and 29-year-old Terry Lacy after a man with gunshot wounds was found in a business parking lot.
On Oct. 17, officers responded to the 2100 block of Summer Lee Dr. just after 1 a.m. and found a 34-year-old man who had been shot. Police have identified the victim as Jean Carlos Iraheta.
Iraheta was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the department said.
Rockwall PD said Iraheta's truck was stolen and was located the next day in a nearby city.
"Further investigation led to the identification of a suspect's vehicle believed to be involved in the offense," Rockwall PD said in a news release.
That vehicle was found in a nearby county leading to the arrest of Chaparro and Lacy. Both are being held at the Rockwall County Detention Center on capital murder charges.
Rockwall PD didn't immediately release the details that led up to the shooting.
The department said the investigation is ongoing.
The family of Iraheta set up a GoFundMe page asking for support to pay for his burial expenses.
