ARLINGTON, Texas — Authorities said they are searching for thieves who smashed their way inside a 7-Eleven store, wrapped a chain around an ATM and then sped off.
The incident happened Wednesday morning around 2:50 a.m. at the convenience store near the I-20 Frontage Road and Matlock Road in Arlington, police said in a news release.
When Arlington PD arrived, officers discovered the front window of the store had been shattered. A 7-Eleven employee told officers that a white pickup truck approached, two men broke the window, wrapped a chain around the ATM, which was just on the other side of the window, and used a pickup truck to pluck it out of the building.
Cellphone video obtained by WFAA shows the suspects loading the ATM into the pickup and then driving off heading west.
Arlington PD said it's reviewing security camera footage and working to identify the suspects. Police found the stolen pickup abandoned about a half-mile away from the store. The truck had been reported stolen out of Dallas, police said.
Authorities have not made any arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
